Domaine Chabanier
Chabanier is a small village which consists of only a few farmhouses, one of which is still in use. Situated on a hill at the end of a dead-end road in the "Correze" in 25 hectares of land, the domaine is surrounded by forest, meadows with small streams and a wonderful sense of tranquillity. The 5 houses (between 150 and 300 years old) vary in size. All have thick stone walls and old chestnut beams, some are free standing and some are semidetached and offer marvellous views over the surrounding fields and woods. All houses are completely renovated, fully furnished and equipped. They share a big play field with swings, volleyball net, a boules pitch, goal posts, table tennis and plenty of wooded area where they can build huts etc. The new chlorine free swimming pool (12x6M) is securely fenced and lies about 200 yards away in a big open field. The pool has roman steps and a large terrace with sun beds and umbrellas. A picnic table and a barbecue offer our guests a nice spot for a poolside dinner. A 15 minute walk through the woods from the houses takes you to the lake. Lac Valette is 9 km long with a sandy bottom and the water temperature is very comfortable in July and August. There are 2 surfboards, a rowing boat, a single and a two-seater canoe available on the lake front. It seems that there is quite some fish in the lake as well. The houses are situated close together, 5 to 10 meters apart in a row. The Chabanne and Ecurie are in one long building, the Maison Bleue, the Fournil and the Bergerie are freestanding. The swimming pool is about 200 yards from the nearest house, just out of view and safely fenced. Chabanier and its unspoilt surroundings have so much to offer all through the year for anyone looking for tranquillity, nature and culture. Ideal for hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, swimming, sailing, canoeing, fishing, site-seeing, or just a good rest.

The Area
There is a choice of footpaths leaving from Chabanier for longer or shorter hikes (detailed maps available in the houses) and the roads are very quiet and suitable for (mountain) biking. There are Tennis courts in Marcillac and 18-hole golf courses at Tulle, Brive and Neuvic, all within 1 hours drive.
Marcillac, (4km) has two public beaches, a sailing club, where boats can be rented, a water-ski club, equestrian club, bike rental etc. The area offers lovely unspoiled villages, old chateaux, with cultural events like concerts and light shows, antique markets and original places to dine out: like the Ferme de Buisson where you eat in the living room of the family who cook and serve you the meal of the day (Table d'Hôte). The picturesque town Argentat is only 30 km away, where canoes can be rented for trips down the Dordogne river.

Gastronomy
The area is famous for some very authentic French produce like; goose liver, goats cheese, a selection of local mushrooms, honey, game, duck, Limousin beef (top quality world-wide), trout, fresh berries (in the garden).

Location
Chabanier is situated on the route D18 from Egletons to Argentat. You can find Egletons between Tulle and Clermont Ferrand on the N89.
